Show Review: Lucid Dementia at Numbers

Lucid Dementia had a kick ass time in Houston last night! Thanks to all the fans that came out, for us and the other bands. Thanks to Sky from Hipnautica for riding along and helping the band with the merch. Thanks to Ankh for being kick ass and helping the band with roadie stuff. Also thanks to the cast and crew from the Movie Sweatshop, including the director Stacy Davidson for coming out and being part of the event. They showed exclusive clips from the movie, and were extremely supportive of the band. Especially thank you to Havok for really coming through for us and booking us.

The first band playing: Dead P.A. was a two man band. 1 playing keys and sequence and singing, and the other playing drums and singing and running through the audience. For the most part this was high energy eclectic break beat type music, with occasional (kind of "Underworld" type) singing and rapping. The guys were very cool to share a stage with, they really couldn't have been nicer.

Next up... LUCID DEMENTIA!!! It was a great crowd for the show, a mixture of old and new fans. The band got a proper sound check (for once in a looong time...) so they were able to really hit the stage running this time, playing old favorites like Twisted and Strange Kiss led by the legendary Luci herself. Then Sheldon came out and finished the show running around and hopping like made in his usual frenetic and possessed fashion. Holly also had this one by the neck, stalking around the stage as if daring an unknown force to just try to take it away from her. Nik, STE7EN and Azil X also flawlessly rocked the set (special thanks to the sound guy, by the way!). The was the first show Azilx used the acoustic cymbols and hi-hat, but anyone watching would swear she had been using them all along.

Android Lust is just Awesome. If you missed them you should be kicking yourself. Not only do they put on a great performance, but they were very cool off the stage as well. Their music live was just as great as they recordings. They had some cool lighting effects synced up to the music, and Shikhee (the singer) just has an amazing stage presence. Her voice goes from beautiful to wickedly haunting in a way that is totally unheard of in this music genre. It is simply amazing live. The music is also interesting, and wonderfully avoids sounding like so MANY other electronic/hybrid electro bands out there.
Cool note about Android Lust and Lucid Dementia: They both started and released their first albums around the same year (1996). They have both been included on the TV show NCIS AND they have both been included on the soundtrack for the movie Sweatshop. They also have both each appeared on the COP International compilation for female Gothic Industrial bands "Diva Ex Machina".

It was great for the band to be back at Numbers!!! and they can't wait to get back to Houston!
