How I understand it, right now there is a push to do "Broadband Mapping" in the USA, which is a kind of census to see who has access to the internet and who doesn't. The idea behind it is so that Congress can start regulating access better, and make sure that everyone has equal (and cheaper, or even free) access to high speed internet. Connected Nation represents some of the big internet access providers, who want to derail this process, by keeping Congress and the general public in the dark about their overpricing policies.
