Since about 2 years ago, it was no longer very profitable for the band to have the physical cd in stores. Most stores will remove your cd if you don't sell anything in a 6 month time, and being that most Lucid Dementia fans are tech savy, they were buying it online. Another problem is that most cd stores don't keep track of their sales very well, and they make it a pain in the ass to find out if you've sold anything. There are 2 good stores in Austin: "Secret October" and "End of an Ear".
So it's been a good thing that online sales have been up. It really balances out the lack of physical stores selling LD material. Here is what they've learned:
1. The more product you have for sale, the more you will sale. It's good having 3 full length albums out there. Alot of times, if someone really likes 1 Lucid Dementia album, they will also buy the other 2.
2. Merch is good too. T-Shirts, Stickers, Hats, G-Strings, etc... all that stuff really helps make the money, and really helps on out of town shows when the guarantee doesn't necessarily cover the cost of traveling.
We also sell the stuff on our Website.
