The Dallas Curtain Club Show:

How did it go? Smashingly.

After worrying about the weather all week, since it was so dry, driving to and from Dallas was not problem. The club was a little chilly at times, otherwise the weather was not really a factor.
AzilX, STE7EN and Andrea showed up at the studio where we loaded up and then picked up Nik at his house nearby, then drove to Pflugerville and picked up Holly. Then we drove until we hit Waco where we stopped at "Casa Ole" to eat. (It turned out to be a Denny's version of a mexican food resteraunt: not very good.
We got to the club, unloaded, then hurried up and waited while Shadow Reichenstein soundechecked (and took turns playing various riffs like (I kid you not) "Sweet Home Alabama"). Fun group of guys.
Subcity Vamp went on, and although they put on an amazing show of old school style Deathrock with a singer similar to The Geraldine Fibbers, the turnout was pretty poor. Catch this band if you ever get a chance.
Silver Loves Mercury played next. The lead singer is small statured woman with a bigger than live scream that could peel the paint off of your Step Mothers coffin. A few more people were present for this powerful female fronted rock band, and they rocked the place. Rock style. Rock!
Lucid Dementia was up next. Since there were so many bands, backlining was at a minimum, so we had to really scramble to get our stuff on stage. Somehow we took a little too long and our 40 minute set got cut to about 34 minutes. In the rush Sheldon wasn't able to get the proper suspension belts on Luci, and spent the first two songs having to manually hold her up. He pulled it off beautifully though. By now the crowd had pretty much grown to it's full potential, which was a pretty crowded room. After the first song, there was a kind of stunned shocked silence from the crowd, which is a little disconcerting to the band, but as the show went on it was obvious the audience was loving every minute of it. After a 2 minute warning Lucid ended the show cutting off after the 1st chorus of "Ignorance": Rule: Always leave them wanting more.
Razor Blade Dolls went on next. They Rocked out with their industrial strength Sprockets out, and they were LOUD. (Note to self: Wear ear plugs at the next Curtain Club show.) It was the band member Scar's birthday, and they performed like it was his party. Some very good hardcore industrial rock going on here. The singer has the most amazing scream voice. NO ONE DOES IT BETTER. Period.
Shadow Reichenstein went on next. The crowd thinned out a bit, but for those that stayed they gave an awesome performance of some brilliant hard edged punk rock-a-billy style gothic tunes. They had a full on stage set up, which really added to their show, as well as their matching uniforms. Do you know who built their hot rod? Answer: Dracula.
After this the band hung out with the remaining fans, then loaded up the van, only to discover they had gotten a $35 parking ticket. Apparently the meters on Saturdays are not free. Whoops. They said their good bye and drove to the first gas station they could find, which strangely turned out to be the exact same station they stopped at the last time they played Dallas. Later, Sheldon got something in his eye, and had to stop some where really fast to get it out, and ended up at the exact same Whataburger they had stopped at and almost got into a brawl at one of the last times they played Dallas. Strange. They made it back safely though, without further incident.
Now is recovery time.
