Show Review: Encore Bitchfest
A Valentines Eve Music Fest with all female fronted bands!: "Bitchfest"
At Club Encore
Very cool club. State of the art lighting set up. The stage was small but adequate with a sweet sound system. The staff there are layed back, and the owner Scotty is a warm and friendly easy going guy. A person can really relax in this place.
1st up: Struck
Female fronted band, of high caliber musical talent. The guitarist is phenomenal. The singer was great at weaving pieces of her life into the song introductions that really gave the whole performance a special endearing touch. They performed a strong 45 minute set.
2nd: Lust Murder Box
They played a quick 30 minute set of Lust Murder Box hits. Modern Industrial rock at it's finest.
3rd: The Dead Lotus Society
This IS SPARTA!!! Oh wait, no it's not, but its the most awesome female fronted death metal band I have ever had the pleasure of seeing live. Very cool music, very cool singer. She totally owns the stage with her death metal growls and screaming. You need to see this live. Seriously.
4th: One Eyed Doll
(Book release party) This was the main event of the evening, and this is what the majority of the crowd came to see. Apparently they hadn't played since October, due to the lead singer breaking some ribs (during a past performance?). This was about an hour long set of story book sweet songs mixed with absolute metal rage and about 50% of the singer just talking to the audience about everything in her cute maniacal way. She had the audience by the ears and she brilliantly took complete advantage of that. You can't buy this performance on a cd folks. You have to see them live, and be there. Wonderfully twisted.
5th: Lucid Dementia
This was a rough night for the band. One Eyed Doll finished late, and then for some reason once the band set up they were plagued by a horrible buzzing noise that could not be fixed. Various onstage mixing problems followed, and after the first song Nik's bass amp decided to go silent. After much struggling with the sound crew everything got set to a good level, but after two songs the club had to pull the plug to start shutting down. All that being said, this still was not by any means a bad show for Lucid Dementia. The crowd stuck it out, and they were treated to a different kind of show: Lucid Dementia under pressure, which only served to heighten their performance, and give the audience an inside look at what it takes to do what they do. The crowd was great and really into it, and there was obvious tension when the band got cut short, but they loved every second of it.
Lucid Dementia would like to thank their new sound man Tom Prowda for hanging in here, Andrew for doing video for the event, Bill Douglass for helping us schlepp stuff all over downtown, the Encore staff for your friendliness and the Encore soundman for working hard to make things right, and especially all the fans that turned out to support us.

Talking During Shows:
Is it an Austin thing or is this phenomenon everywhere? It seems there is a lot of people that pay a lot of money to go to live music shows, just so they can be where the "cool" people are, and they end up talking the entire show.
What is wrong with these people? I assume they suffer from some kind of mental disorder. I hate going to shows that involve mellow bands because rest assured here comes Chatty Cathy and friend to use it as an opportunity to talk about whatever is rattling around in their stupid heads.
Hey show talkers: Take your medication. Seriously, if you aren't already on medication go find a Doctor and tell him you are tired of being an A%%Hole, because that is exactly what you are. I bet you are the same person that goes to comedy shows and thinks it's part of the show for you to heckle the comedian and talk during that show. You are a pathetic moron, and I assume you parents are pathetic morons because they obviously brought up an ignorant child that does not know better.
Also, folks remember, not everyone is polite about impolitness.

Elysium show last nite:
Went really well. If you missed this one, you missed one of the really really good ones. Lucid Dementia played an aggressive set, and the crowd was up to it. there was some pretty intense slam dancing going on stage front...

Thunder of Gods Festival: Lucid Dementia Show
Thunder of Gods Festival
The Lucid Dementia show kicked ass!
It was rough though. They ended up having to go on early, so it was 5:40pm in the hot sun and breath taking gusts of hot wind rough. But they had a good crowd, they used gore, and Luci rocked their socks off. Someone check on Holly. I think she got heat stroke. Sheldon went (more) nuts. The sound was awesome! Luci at sunset, very strange... Pictures to come soon...

Thunder of Gods Festival!!!!!

This is a 3 day festival, better let your boss know you are going to be out May 7-9 Thursday-Saturday. Lucid Dementia is playing Friday 5:25-5:55, a little bit before Thrill Kill Kult takes the stage.
Hey: Thrill Kill Kult is NOT playing a show at Austin's Elysium, they are just having a meet and greet party for their new cd release. So if you want to see them play, you better plan on being at this festival!

The Blue Bubble Ballroom Show:
Last night, April 25th, the one year anniversary for the venue. The event was called Fiesta X. s7eVen the Lucid Dementia guitarist, and his music biz dynamo brother Paul busted their asses to make it one of the bands most successful shows this year.
This place is a nice venue, but they don't appear to advertise, and for this show they forgot to add it to their websites events calendar. They only added it to their events calendar on their myspace page the tuesday before, so as you can see we really had to hustle to get people there.
Some new found fans, as well as old fans turned out, and they were a really great crowd. The club's sound system is top notch, and the sound on stage was awesome!
Now we get ready for:
The Thunder of the Gods Festival in Dripping Springs at the Recreational Plantation Campgrounds:

Emily's Gone Mad is one of my all time favorite bands from San Antonio. The are always interesting and are a mix of gothic, punk, industrial, alternative insanity. Remind you of someone? Why isn't this band on the radio everywhere?

EXSE 2009 Thursday, April 19th 10pm
Well guess what, not to be the one to put all of our eggs in one basket, we also applied to play the Channel Austin Televised Music Festival EXSE, and we were accepted. This will be our 2nd time playing this, and we are really looking forward to it. Television gigs are sweet! It's in a studio, we don't have to compete with a PA, it's always ice cold and the folks there just absolutely love us!

They're baaaack!
Luci is back in Austin after playing their victorious concert at The Vampire Lounge. This was the 2nd time they played here and it was AWESOME! We highly recommend you visit the club if you've never been there. Special thanks to all the great folks that came out that night. The band is definitely looking forward to getting back there, hopefully sometime in April. Now they get ready for SXSW stuff, and all the possibilities that may bring.
